The BEST food to eat to lower cholesterol is….Oatmeal. Very high in fiber!
Remember that as a rule of thumb, the higher in fiber, better for lowering Cholesterol. Most fruit has lots of fiber. Beans are also high in fiber, especially Kidney and Black Beans.
Nuts are good too, but keep in mind they are high in calorie, so really watch your intake.
Fish that is high in omega-3, such as Salmon, tuna, mackerel and herrings are great. Bake or grill the fish, definitely do not fry.
Remember these are good for you, but adding harmful items, such as butter and sugar you will be defeating your purpose.
Just kidding of course. Funny that you should ask this. Having just finished teaching a Healthy Cooking series, I can not overhype Quinoa as the grain that is a protein powerhouse! Substitute this as well as beans, Tofu, or some of the other multitudes of soy products for animal sources of protein. This practice will most certainly lower your cholesterol levels.
Oatmeal contains soluble fiber, which reduces your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), the “bad” cholesterol. Soluble fiber is also found in such foods as kidney beans, apples, pears, barley and prunes.
