Jan in Pleasant Mount is hosting a graduation party for 50 guests, and plans to offer three main dishes and sides. She wonders how much of each to prepare.

Without knowing more about her guests and their tastes and preferences, I would be inclined to prepare 20 servings of each. This is ten more servings than she needs (and it’s always better to prepare too much food than not enough) but hopefully this would enable the guests at least get their second choice if not their first.
